TEACHING EXPERIENCE
For the past 30 years, have been involved with students of diverse backgrounds and varying age groups, teaching them the rudiments and nuances of art, drawing and painting. Have been interacting with Senior as well as contemporary artists from different genres, practicing with various media and contemporary artists from different genres, practicing with various media and focusing on a variety of themes. This has imbibed in me a deep insight to view art in its entirety with a holistic approach. Besides, I have been guiding art enthusiasts and learners on the basic aspects as well as advanced techniques of art, drawing and painting. I continue to mentor budding artists. Have conducted art workshops and co-ordinated art shows and events. Assessing and reviewing artworks and art studies have been a part of my work profile.
ART STUDIO
My Guru Sri Narendra Rai launched my Studio TAPAS in the presence of Prof. RC Sharma on the auspicious occasion of Ugadi-Vikari Nama Samvatsara on April 6, 2019.
STATEMENT
Let me give vent to my pent-up feelings and spell out what I have been attempting. My preoccupation with paintings, which is sometimes erroneously dubbed surrealism and fantasy, is to attempt to relate my subjective experience about my surroundings and situations. Confronted with the challenging situations and domineering beastly instincts, the human mind in its process of evolution experiences an ever-raging conflict as to whether to yield to it or face and fight it out, to cross the barriers of Time and Space, with the urge to explore the unexplored to attain 'Freeness' to merge with 'Panchabhootams'.
-U Vijay Kumar
The vast pulsating pictorial terrains of U Vijay Kumar’s work are not mere representations of nature but his inner chaos of existence. He tried to express some of his deep-rooted feelings through drawing and painting Nature. The mysterious protagonists in his paintings are often shown in a dialogue with their counterparts creating a dramatic symphony of real and unreal. Vijay’s quest for the ‘sublime’ and the ‘intangible real of reality’ will continue along with his search to understand the complexities of the human mind.
After graduating from M.S University, Baroda continued to exhibit his work in several one-man shows and over 35 group shows across India. Vijay mostly uses oil on canvas as his medium to bring out the vibrancy in his paintings.
