One-man exhibitions in Sri Lanka
D Rajasegar who signs his paintings as Segar Started his career in the field of accountancy. While preparing for the London Accountancy qualification IAA, he spent most of his time in the British Council Library. There he was fascinated by the books on Art and Artists in the reference section of the Library. As a hobby, he started to make greeting cards depicting the simple lifestyle of his neighborhood. These cards soon became available for sale in the bookshops especially in five-star hotels. All handmade greeting cards. Unable to meet the demand, Segar resigned from his job when he was 25 years old and started to print cards and concentrate on large paintings. So far, he had more than fifty solo exhibitions in addition to group shows in India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, South Korea, England and Australia. His paintings have been featured in several Periodicals and magazines including the back cover of Readers Digest.
Segar’s house was architectured by leading Asian lady architect Minnette de Silva and is being visited by students of art and architecture all over the world. It is also listed in the Princeton University of Architecture in New Jersey USA. This house was built solely from the sales proceeds of his paintings.
