Artist's statement:
My journey in the world of art began in a small town called Dalsingsarai, Samastipur, Bihar, and has evolved over the years through rigorous academic and artistic endeavors. I completed my Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Painting in 2005 from Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, followed by a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Painting in 2007 from the College of Art and Craft, Lucknow. Currently, I am pursuing my Ph.D. research in Painting at Manglayatan University, Aligarh.
The theme of my artworks is predominantly rooted in Indian mythology, particularly in the contemporary context. A major focus of my paintings includes the depictions of Lord Ganesh, Lord Shiva, Lord Krishna, and Nandi, which I portray in abstract forms, often incorporating floral and leafy elements. Having studied art in Varanasi, I was deeply influenced by the majestic, larger-than-life image of Nandi that roams freely in the region. In my paintings, I highlight Nandi, who is considered a symbol of prosperity, peace, strength, and power in Hindu religious beliefs, blending these symbolic shapes into my works.
Additionally, the childhood form of Lord Ganesh, with his robust physique, has always fascinated me. I was particularly influenced by the vibrant red hues of Lord Ganesh’s statues during Durga Puja in Bengal, which inspired some of my compositions. My paintings are predominantly created using mixed media, with a combination of paper and canvas, often reflecting the etched effects seen in etching techniques.
I have held solo and group exhibitions in various renowned art galleries and museums across the country and abroad. I have also received the National Scholarship and Junior Fellowship from the Ministry of Culture, Government of India. Along with these accolades, I have participated in several prestigious national and international art camps and have been awarded multiple significant prizes for my artistic contributions.
