At present working as VICE-PRINCIPAL, and ACADEMIC DEAN, at South Delhi Polytechnic for Women, Lajpat Nagar - IV, New Delhi.
Ananda Moy Banerji, a renowned artist, was born in 1959 in Kolkata, India, and currently resides in Delhi/NCR. He completed his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting from the College of Art Delhi (1975-1980) and pursued his Master in Fine Arts in Printmaking from Kala Bhavan – Santiniketan (1983-1985). He even had the opportunity to engage in a research associateship in Printmaking at Camberwell College of Arts and Crafts-London through the Charles Wallace India Trust award.
Ananda Moy has exhibited his artwork in numerous shows both in India and abroad. He has had several solo shows at prestigious venues like Gallery Espace, The British Council, and Lalit Kala Akademi in New Delhi. He has also participated in various exhibitions, including the 10th Triennial-India and the First Print Biennial organized by Lalit Kala Akademi-India. His talent has taken him to countries like Nepal, Bangladesh, Japan, Korea, Germany, the UK, the USA, China, New Zealand, Canada, Russia, Greece, Egypt, and Norway.
Ananda Moy's artistic achievements have not gone unnoticed. He has received several awards throughout his career, including the 64th and 67th Annual Best Exhibit Awards from A.I.F.A.C.S in New Delhi. He was also honored with the 20th Sahitya Kala Parishad Award in New Delhi in 1991 and the XXXVIth National Akademi Award from Lalit Kala Akademi in 1994. His talent has taken him to Japan as well, where he received the Nagasawa Art Park Residency Award in 2001. He has also been a recipient of cultural scholarships and a Junior Fellowship in the field of visual art from the Ministry of Culture and Human Resources, Government of India.
That's quite an impressive list of art camps and residencies that Ananda Moy Banerji has attended! From Uttarayan in Gujarat to the "Lie Mois De Estampe" in Paris, he has truly explored different artistic opportunities. It's also wonderful to hear that he actively shares his knowledge through speaking engagements and workshops.
Being a founder member of the Indian Printmakers Guild and Multiple Encounters shows his dedication to the art community. And of course, having his works showcased in various galleries, institutions, museums, and private collections is a testament to his talent. It's interesting to know that he is also an Academic Dean and Vice-Principal at South Delhi Polytechnic for Women. Ananda Moy Banerji's passion for art and commitment to education is truly inspiring!
