Harlequin, a Fictional character is the French origin character and means a mute pantomime clown. In traditional pantomime, a Harlequin is a mute character who wears a mask and a distinctive costume that is diamond-patterned. The term Harlequin also signifies colored things like a circus Harlequin tent.
The character of Harlequin was improvised in theatrical plays around the 16th century in Italy. He was a cunning and disobeying servant whose clothes were always covered in different patches of other garments. His face was covered with half a black mask and had a whiskery beard with a bushy mustache.
