This painting is a part of the series, 'Desire' and it expresses the situation when the desires of a person didn't get fulfilled. It depicts the depression and anxiety of a person. The use of smokey filthy colours such as Burnt Sienna & Olive Green makes an atmosphere of depression, which is quite appropriate to reveal the anxiety of the mind when the desires are not fulfilled.
The portrayal of lemon in the painting expresses the sourness in the life of a depressed person. It shows the confusion of the mind. This painting is a work of symbolism and expressionism and a beautiful depiction of an abstract (confusion, anxiety) state of mind.
